Generations of Davonport Design

Filled with inspiration and admiration of her parentʼs kitchen, designed and manufactured by Davonport a decade ago, Joanne approached the Essex-based Studio Partner for a luxury kitchen of her own. Joanne had fallen in love with the outstanding quality and beautiful design of her parentsʼ kitchen and knew early on that she also wanted a stunning bespoke kitchen of her own. When Joanne and husband Stuart purchased their forever home, it was time to pursue this.

Bringing the Outside In

Running the full width of the extension, two sets of bi-fold doors and roof skylights now flood the living space with light, bringing a true sense of cohesion between garden and home. The desire to make the garden feel like a part of the house and Joanne and Stuartʼs love of nature, inspired the choice of beautiful green kitchen cabinetry, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Reimagining Space

High on the priority list for Joanne and Stuart was transforming their new kitchen from a dark and restrictive layout to a light and open space for them to enjoy with daughter, Rose. To achieve this, a single-storey rear extension was commissioned across the full width of the house.

Open Plan

At the opposite end of the kitchen / diner, the new living space included a sofa and bespoke cupboards, used for kitchenware storage as well as an array of Rose’s toys and books. Created by Davonport, these tall cupboards continued the colouring and style of the main kitchen, bringing the large room together to create one open plan living space.

Family and Friends

Integral aspects to Joanne and Stuart’s dream kitchen were ease of socialising and entertaining – both of which were captivated by the new kitchen. The drinks cupboard, affectionately termed ‘Alchemy’, quickly became a kitchen stand-out feature. Gin connoisseur Stuart now had the perfect area to showcase his collection and prepare drinks for family and friends.

The ‘Alchemy’ drinks cupboard was inspired by the Butler’s Pantry on display during Joanne and Stuart’s tour of Davonport’s workshop. Throughout the process, Joanne and Stuart spent a lot of time at the Colchester showroom and the workshop tour provided a higher-level of understanding of the creative methods behind the handmade kitchens by Davonport. In addition to the pantry, Joanne loved the lighting and accessories on display and ended up choosing to complete the kitchen with a variety of Davonport’s ‘finishing touches’ range.

To create this stunning and highly functional living space, Davonport took inspiration from client vision and combined it with their expertise to create something extraordinary – a great use of space, storage and style.
